About Bronx County Criminal History

Bronx County has no separate county sheriff, jail, or municipal court. Its criminal records instead move among the NYPD, New York City courts and correction agencies, and New York State offices. This private reference site organizes those distinct routes so readers can identify the office, official portal, address, or telephone number that fits the record they need. The goal is practical: distinguish a court file from an NYPD report, a city custody entry from a state prison record, and a public court search from a fingerprint-based DCJS record review.

Why We Built This Site

The Bronx is both a New York City borough and a New York county, but it does not operate the stand-alone county offices common elsewhere. NYPD creates police and arrest records. Bronx Criminal Court and Bronx Supreme Court, Criminal Term, maintain different court files. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Office of Criminal Justice Records, keeps fingerprint-linked state criminal history, while NYC DOC and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision cover separate forms of custody. The New York State Sex Offender Registry is another distinct source. We built this site to make those boundaries clear and to collect the verified request routes in one usable reference.

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to a New York court, NYPD, the NYC Sheriff, or any city or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot submit record requests, sealing motions, or other filings for a visitor
  • We do not certify court documents, police reports, registry entries, or rap sheets
  • We cannot offer legal advice about a charge, warrant, disposition, or sealing issue
  • We cannot promise that an agency's hours, fee, address, or procedure has not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as NYPD, the appropriate Bronx court clerk, or DCJS, can issue or certify the official document.
