Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company operating that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Bronx County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you send an email, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical and usage details when a page loads, including:
- The date and time of each page request
- Your device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is reported

- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Your operating system and device category
Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Bronx County Criminal History does not operate, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site publishes general instructions for locating records through NYPD, Bronx Criminal Court, Bronx Supreme Court, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), NYC DOC, DOCCS, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a file about another person or used to create a consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies provide the site's search boxes. Information submitted through one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy. Each partner controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices, so review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to NYPD, Bronx courts, New York State agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls that visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. Their systems, rather than ours, perform that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Search partners that process a query you choose to submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures help protect the information we receive. No online system can guarantee absolute security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will take steps to delete it.

Rights depend on the law that applies to you. In New York, General Business Law § 349 addresses deceptive consumer practices, and the SHIELD Act's data-security rules appear in General Business Law § 899-bb. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs access to government agency records rather than data held by this private site. Correction Law Article 6-C separately controls dissemination and use of New York State Sex Offender Registry information. Where applicable, a request may ask us to:

- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information where the law requires it
- Stop forms of processing for which an applicable law provides an opt-out right
